The Bible Society of South Africa NPC (BSSA) has been translating, publishing and distributing Bibles
in South Africa since 1820. The Bible Society of South Africa’s mission is to provide affordable Bibles for everyone, in their language and suitable formats, so that all may experience the life-giving message of the Word.
The abovementioned career opportunity is currently available at the BSSA. This position is ideal for an experienced librarian passionate about information and research. The incumbent will be responsible for preserving, collecting, processing and providing materials and information relating to all aspects of the BSSA and Bible activities. The incumbent also assists with various research initiatives, collating data and reporting on findings.
Key Performance Areas
- The indexing and storage of material
- Maintaining current collections – monographs, magazines and other media
- Provide information to users and researchers and answer queries as efficiently and quickly as possible
- Effective recordkeeping system
- Update and maintain BSSA’s IP on the UBS Global Bible Catalogue
- Assist with research initiatives, data compilation and archiving
- Detailed and accurate reporting and administration
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- At least 2-5 years experience working as a Librarian, preferably in a specialised library or research library
- Experience with research projects will be advantageous
- Computer literate (MS Office and Outlook) and library software
