Finance Manager – Moi Educational Centre

JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall financial health of Moi Educational Centre. This role includes managing the financial planning, reporting, and budgeting processes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the centre’s educational mission.

Department: Finance Department

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial forecasting and analysis

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the centre’s objectives.
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Financial reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Present financial reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Manage the audit process and liaise with external auditors.

Budget management

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of budgets.
  • Provide financial guidance to departments and monitor budget adherence.

Compliance and risk management

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.

Team leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Strategic Support

  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues.
  • Support the development and execution of the centre’s strategic plan.
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Oversee cash flow management and financial operations.
  • Implement efficient and effective financial policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
