Product Specialist – Hatch Technologies

The Product Specialist for Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) will play a pivotal role in scaling the distribution and utilization of POCUS devices across East and West Africa. This role involves working closely with local medical equipment distributors, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to introduce, promote, and scale POCUS technology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ultrasound technology, market introduction strategies, and promotional activities to ensure the widespread adoption and effective use of POCUS devices

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Expertise:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Vayu CPAP and POCUS products, including their features, benefits, and clinical applications.
  • Stay updated on the latest clinical guidelines, research, and trends related to respiratory therapy and point-of-care ultrasound.

2. Sales Support:

  • Develop and implement strategies to introduce POCUS devices into the local markets.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities, challenges, and the competitive landscape.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local medical equipment distributors and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify and engage potential customers, including hospitals, clinics, and healthcare professionals.
  • Create and execute promotional campaigns to raise awareness about the benefits of POCUS technology.
  • Develop educational materials and conduct training sessions for healthcare providers on the use and maintenance of POCUS devices.
  • Coordinate with local distributors to ensure proper product positioning and availability.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the value and functionality of Vayu CPAP and POCUS devices.
  • Assist in the preparation of sales materials, proposals, and quotations.

3. Customer Education and Training:

  • Train and educate healthcare providers on the proper use and maintenance of Vayu CPAP and POCUS devices.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and webinars to enhance customer knowledge and proficiency.
  • Create and maintain training materials, user guides, and instructional videos.
  • Organize and lead training workshops and seminars for healthcare professionals to enhance their proficiency in using POCUS technology.

4. Implementation and Support:

  • Provide technical support to distributors and end-users, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge to operate and troubleshoot POCUS devices.
  • Assist customers in the initial setup and configuration of Vayu CPAP and POCUS devices.
  • Offer ongoing technical support and troubleshooting to resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to ensure customer satisfaction and optimal product performance.

5. Market Research and Feedback:

  • Gather feedback from customers and end-users to identify areas for product improvement and innovation.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor products, and customer needs to provide insights for product development.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms to monitor the usage and impact of POCUS devices in the field.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of product introduction and promotional strategies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on the progress and outcomes of POCUS distribution initiatives.

6. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Engage with healthcare institutions, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to advocate for the adoption of POCUS technology.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders and decision-makers in the healthcare sector.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales & marketing, clinical support, and customer support, to ensure alignment of goals and strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth product launches and customer engagements.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Radiography, Sonography, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, business, or a related discipline.
  • A masters’ degree is an added advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical or technical support role within the medical device industry working with POCUS and CPAP.
  • Prior experience with POCUS.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience in introducing and scaling medical devices in low-resource settings.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape in East and West Africa.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and technical proficiency in respiratory therapy and ultrasound.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and key stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
