Job Description

We are currently looking to hire an experienced Full-Time on-site farm manager to add to the team.
We are seeking mature candidates with rich and in-depth experience in Broiler, Egg Production, Pigs, Snails, Goats, etc… and good business sense ready to execute managerial duties with top-notch efficiency.
The preferred candidate will need to have the personality to run an agile and demanding work environment, ensuring the team morale stays positive and high while keeping the wellbeing of all the animals the highest priority.
To be successful as a farm manager, you be detail-oriented but also keep the bigger picture in mind.
Outstanding candidates are keen problem solvers who are focused on efficiency and take a hands-on approach to management.

Responsibilities

Supervising the farm’s day-to-day operations, keeping of livestock records, ensuring the team morale stays highly positive adhering to health and safety regulations and working practices while keeping the wellbeing of all the animals the highest priority
Analyzing existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, financial documents and writing new operational policies and processes including any recommended improvements.
Setting of weekly activities, budgetary and production target for team to execute. Ability to budget and maintain accurate financial records and also able to work and produce results within a stipulated time
Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations.
Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
Carry out weekly 1:1 meeting with the farm hands to not only address any requests, concerns, etc. but to also ensure they are meeting assigned targets
Ensuring animal feed, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked.
Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
Handling the marketing and sale of all the products produced on the farm, maintaining a heathy schedule of business while always ensuring top customer satisfaction.
Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety regulations.
Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
Produce Weekly and Monthly operations report (inventory checks, animal health report, community update, outcome of daily farm inspection i.e. checks to ensure signs and encroachment controls are still in place), update on farm staff’s activity for the company’s C-Level.
Produce the weekly & monthly reports on farm operations and stakeholder matters for the company’s C-Level.
Produce the weekly & monthly budget and financial reports for the company’s C-Level.
Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural science.
Keeping records of livestock, carrying out routine health checks and ensuring a proper vaccination scheme is in check for the livestock.
Must have knowledge of the most effective method to prevent and control livestock disease and pest
Must be computer literate and must have knowledge on how to use excel for financial records.
Vaccinations
Liaising and building relationships with the local community
Carrying out health checks on poultry birds
Ensure a proper vaccination schedule is in place for poultry birds
Carry our regular risk assessment of operational activities on the farm
Feedback report to the directors regarding potential risks, need for improvements, and any changes to operational activities
Carrying out recruitment and disciplinary actions of assistant manager/farm hands
Project manage construction activities for new buildings and farm expansion
Ensure that issues of security, community relations, flooding, and fire are adequately planned for and mitigations put in place before they occur

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: HND
Experience Level: Mid to Senior level
Experience Length: 3 – 5 years

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy Animal Science, food technology, or other related disciplines. At least 5 years of practical and relatable experience is a bonus
Additional courses in business management or administration are recommended.
Monday – Saturday work hours (Willingness to work overtime as required).
Management experience would be a plus.
Family must be resident within Lagos or Ogun State.
Superb communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
Must be computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft products for keeping good records, create reports, and manage spreadsheets
Ability to manage budgets and take corrective action when over budget
Good people and leadership skills
Must be willing to research and learn new skills.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
Minimum academic qualification of an HND ability to deliver is of utmost importance).
